TULSA, OK – [18 March 2026] – Public Images Gallery is thrilled to announce its grand opening in Tulsa’s historic Meadow Gold District on May 1st, coinciding with the city’s vibrant First Friday celebration. To mark the occasion, the gallery will host the highly anticipated return of “Roots, Rock, and Rebels…The Photography of Henry Diltz,” featuring an exclusive in-person meet-and-greet with the world-renowned rock photographer himself.
In 2020, the Woody Guthrie Center debuted this incredible collection of Diltz’s work to rave reviews. However, the exhibit’s run was tragically cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving many art and music lovers without the chance to experience it. Now, Public Images Gallery is bringing the full, unabridged exhibit back to Tulsa, giving the community a rare second chance to witness music history through Diltz’s lens.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to introduce Public Images Gallery to Tulsa than by bringing Henry Diltz back to finish what he started,” said Larry White, gallery founder, “Having Henry here in person on Route 66 during First Friday is going to be an unforgettable night for classic rock fans and art enthusiasts alike.”
Henry Diltz is celebrated for capturing some of the most iconic images of the Woodstock era, photographing legends such as The Doors, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Jimi Hendrix, James Taylor and The Monkees. Attendees of the grand opening will have the unique opportunity to view these historic images, purchase prints, and hear the stories behind the photos directly from the man who was there.
